FLY ROD STRIPED BASS CATCH & RELEASE TOURNAMENT
This is one of the premier fly fishing events in the United States. It's run by
volunteers and fosters the best qualities of the sport.
Every year in late spring, hundreds of participants from California to Maine come
to the island to catch and release hundreds of stripers. Islanders are teamed up
with off-islanders to create exciting learning and friendship experiences as they
discover the thrills of hooking up with monster stripers on a fly rod.
Following a long night of fly fishing, participants enjoy a bountiful hot breakfast
prepared by the future chefs in the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School's Culinary
Arts Program. The club pays these kids for the breakfast, which is their major
fundraiser of the year.
This tournament is open to the public and the winners' names are engraved on
trophies in the clubhouse.

CLUB SKEET STRAIGHT CLUB
The first time a shooter, who is a member of the club, shoots a perfect round of skeet
with a 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge or .410 shotgun, he or she becomes a member of the Skeet
Straight Club.
As a member of this elite skeet group, the shooter receives a custom skeet-shooting pin
and his or her name is engraved on the trophy in the clubhouse.
Straights of 25, 50, 75 and 100 clay targets are recognized.
The Skeet Straight Club member is also recognized on the skeet range with a gathering of
the shooter's squad mates performing the club's ritual of lining up on the range, with
shotguns loaded, then throwing the new Straight Club member's hat into the air and blasting
holes in it.
